Let me first say that I do not doubt that you have good intentions when you report to me a player who is greifing the server. I know that I am not on as often as I used to be and with out voteban or kick there have been many greifers on the server. I know this makes it a poor playing environment.
However, when you give to me a name and steam id of someone you suspect is hacking, I have no verification whatsoever that the player in question was actually cheating or causing problems. I do not know if you simply changed the name of the player and gave me a random steam id of a server regular. I don't know if they are actually a spectacular cs player and you don't like being killed by them. I don't know if the player who was actually cheating or greifing didn't simply change their name.
This is worsened by the fact that there are still name stealers who take legitimate players' names and then abuse the server. I have no guarantee at all that an anonymous steam id and player name are really the the credentials of the cheating player.
Therefor, if you suspect a person of cheating, greifing, or other malpractice, simply use voteban.
Again: simply use voteban.
I do not care how sure you are that a certain player is cheating, Neither Psyrus nor I will ban a player unless we view the player's actions firsthand. The optimal thing to do is to tell us when the player who is cheating is actually on the server. This allows us to actually join the server using a pseudonym and watch the player. Waiting until the player leaves is the worse thing to do because I have nothing to go on at that point. Do not bother sending us Names or steam id's of suspected greifers. They are meaningless to us.
